Jolpur ….just get lost here !
Now , you may not find Jolpur in a tourist map. It's not a tourist place actually in a sense that you may not find herds and herds of tourists flocking here and there. If you like to enjoy some moments with a personal group of your own ,then this is the place for you.
Surprisingly it is just far at stone throw distance from Mount Abu. Actually it is situated in the cradle of the Mount Abu itself. But very far from all the hustle and bustle of that famous hill station.
I would be always thankful to Darshit from Kadamb treck and travel, as the trip was originally planned with a group of almost 15 to 20 people but at last moments most of the people changed their plan. But, Darshit was more committed to get us very few people over there even if it was meant a loss for him. That is what you call, a professional attitude.
So, we left early morning from Ahmedabad and arrived at a little Haveli to be garlanded as premium guests. Darshit immediately took us to a nearby hill top to make us learn few primary tricks of tracking , but we were just fascinated at the road and fields panorama from there and passed most of the time in posing for cameras (and this was continued during the entire trip) Had one of the finest and most authentic Rajsthani traditional food, followed by a short siesta and then moved towards the Dam site.
Yes, that was the star attraction of the trip. It's a kind of peninsula created at down-stream of the Selawada dam, we were surrounded by the water from three side, Mount Abu was providing a huge backdrop on eastern side and a magnificent structure of the dam on south. We danced, clicked , get warmed by a make-shift fire-place , placed tents and again enjoyed a sumptuous dinner followed by star gazing. Spent a cold night with the element fire, earth , water and space and of course ourselves.
Chirping of birds at wee hours made us realize that we were not alone there . These little friends throng there to play morning songs for us. A quick yoga session and a hot morning tea summed up our dam site camping.
An afternoon ride led us to a rivulet flowing from the mount abu within a hill forest, pebbles of all sizes were scattered all over the rivulet bed that worked as a chair , a dining table and also as bedding for us. Again a Rajsthani lunch (none other than Daal Bati Churma) was served us at this wild but serene place. We were in no mood to leavet for Ahmedabad again , but again these trips are enjoyable because of its short and specific duration only.
So , next time when you don't wish to be lost at a crowded tourist place , go off rack and get lost here.
